Sugar

Sugar is something that is everywhere. We all know we should stay away from it. But how do we when it's everywhere?

What's the best way to balance sugar in my life?

This is a question I often ask myself. I do like sugar, as I'm sure most of you do. But with determination, there is a way to cut down your intake of it, while still "enjoying life" as one might say.

Sugar in your body

When you eat sugar, your body uses a certain amount of it as immediate energy. Any leftover sugar is stored as glycogen in your liver. During certain times, such as in between meals, at night and while you're exercising, this stored glycogen is turned back into glucose for energy. If the glycogen is not used and builds up, your liver gets sick and can spread disease to the rest of your body. *this is where bad body fat is made.

Moderation is super important for not pushing your insides past their limits.

When you have sugar in your blood, your pancreas produces insulin. If your pancreas is continually working to produce insulin (meaning you have too much sugar in your blood), it can become overworked and shut down. This means that no insulin would be in your blood, hence the reason diabetics have to manually inject insulin in their blood. In order to take care of your pancreas, moderation of sugar is the way to go!

Positives

Sugar, in moderation, is actually beneficial. Your body needs some sugar for energy.

When you have blackouts, the sugar supply to your brain gets cut off. Your brain uses some sugar to function!

SUGAR FOUND IN HEALTHY PLACES

Getting sugar through real food is very beneficial. I absolutely love Fruit. It gives my body the sugar it needs without making me feel sick.

Honey is another super great option, especially if it is local and raw.

Real Maple Syrup from a tree is also great.

Negatives

Processed sugar can overload the liver and cause serious liver problems.

  • When people eat a lot of sugar, their bodies can create a resistance to insulin (a hormone). This means heart disease and obesity can occur.
  • With a resistance to insulin, type 2 diabetes has a chance of developing.

If you have blood pressure problems, sugar can raise your blood pressure fairly fast.

Sugar Feeds Cancer cells.

Sugar calories are much less filling in the stomach which causes you to feel hungry.

*PLEASE NOTE: Added Sugars, otherwise known as processed and harmful "sugar",  are not from nature and do not provide health benefits. They actually interfere with ones health.
